It is the second largest phylum of animals, making them one of the most successful groups on the planet. There are over 80,000 described species of mollusks with many more left to be discovered. Mullusca is composed of 8 recognized classes including Cephalopoda, Gastropoda, Polyplacophora, Scaphapoda, Monoplacophorans, the Aplacophorans, Caudofoveata and Solenogastres, and Bivalvia.

Testa variabili, ovato-turrita, solidiuscula, laxe striata, extus alba vel cornea, sed plerumque lutescente, intus lutea ; anfr. 4, supernis rotundatis, ultimo conico-ovato ; apertura modica, ovata, partem dimidiam longitudinis vix superante ; columella normaliter arcuata, haud plicata, ad regionem umbilicalem reflexiuscula. Long. ½ , lat. ¼ poll. Hab. Texas. Very variable in its proportions as well as in coloring. Short specimens resemble S. campestris of the South, but want its columellar fold. The elongated specimens are like S. amphibia ; and in the diminutive size of the aperture it is like S. vermeta. Fresh specimens are well characterized by their golden yellow color. It may possibly be Say's S. undulata.
