Spooky Snails! The "Ghostly" Gray-footed Lancetooth

By: Chandler Olson

Spooky season is upon us with a little over a week until Halloween! As the leaves change and the air cools land snails are prepparing for the winter. For most snails this includes burrowing into the ground or finding a cozy cavity in a log to hibernate in. This hiberbation can last four to six months until the temperture warms in the Spring!

As a last celebration before they take this long rest I want to talk about a Spooky Snail, the Gray-footed Lancetooth. It is particularly spooky because it is a vicious predator that hunts other snails! It can be seen hunting and feeding in the newest video posted on the Seahorse and Co Youtube Channel.
